Day 1- Arrive, Unpack and Hit the Lake

Day 6 — Cango Caves and Oudtshoorn Adventure

Today's day trip is the most dramatic of the week. Drive north through the Outeniqua Mountains to Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world, and home to one of South Africa's greatest natural wonders: the Cango Caves. 

Allow a full day for this trip. After the Cango Caves, visit an ostrich farm for a guided tour. Children love riding the ostriches and learning about these extraordinary birds. Stop for lunch at a Oudtshoorn farm restaurant on the way back.

Day 7 — Birds of Eden, Monkeyland, and the Journey Home

Spend your final morning at the remarkable wildlife sanctuaries near Plettenberg Bay, about 45 minutes east of Sedgefield. Birds of Eden is the largest free-flight aviary in the world, a breathtaking experience as hundreds of rescued birds fly freely above you on wooden walkways through an indigenous forest. 

Head to The Crags early. Allow 90 minutes per sanctuary. Grab lunch in Plettenberg Bay at The Table Restaurant before the drive home or back to George Airport for departing flights.
